Happy New Year
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”
This is how Charles Dickens begins his novel, A Tale of Two Cities. Dickens was using this work to compare and contrast two cities, Paris and London, during the French revolution. However, I think that we can, even now, all associate with his sentiments when we think of the past 365 days. I think that we would all agree that 2022 has been a turbulent year. Illness and recovery, saying farewell to loved ones and the joy of new birth. Happiness and despair were, by times, experienced by everyone but the advent of the New Year brings a season of light; we can all look forward to lengthening days, of warmer weather, meeting with old friends and the making of new. As we step into the New Year let us resolve to seek the Lord more and enjoy Gods presence with us.
