When Barbara Smith\u2019s son was killed, she started a bereavement group to unite others. \u2018We\u2019ve saved each other,\u2019 she says. <\/p><\/amp-fit-text>\n\n\n\n<amp-fit-text layout=\"fixed-height\" min-font-size=\"6\" max-font-size=\"72\" height=\"80\"><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Monitor their self-talk.<\/strong> Watch how you \u2018spin\u2019 your situation. And when you catch yourself speaking negatively, reframe things in light of Scripture. God\u2019s Word says, \u2018The word of faith is\u2026in your mouth\u2019 (see Romans 10:8), and \u2018What you say can mean life or death\u2019 (Proverbs 18:21 NCV). Instead of sitting around wallowing in fear and anger, and whining about how you got here, focus on what you can control \u2013 your words! <\/p><\/amp-fit-text>\n\n\n\n<amp-fit-text layout=\"fixed-height\" min-font-size=\"6\" max-font-size=\"72\" height=\"80\"><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Look for life\u2019s lighter moments<\/strong>. Solomon said, \u2018A happy heart is\u2026good medicine\u2026a broken spirit drains your strength\u2019 (Proverbs 17:22 NCV). When Donna Goldman was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, she continued to teach. \u2018I let the kids play with my walking canes \u2013 as long as they don\u2019t use them for weapons!\u2019 she quips. And her car licence plate says, \u2018Get Back Up\u2019. <\/p><\/amp-fit-text>\n\n\n\n<amp-fit-text layout=\"fixed-height\" min-font-size=\"6\" max-font-size=\"72\" height=\"80\"><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Give back<\/strong>. God \u2018comforts us\u2026so\u2026we can share that\u2026comfort with others\u2019 (2 Corinthians 1:4 CEV).
